Meet the Team!

Who is Eligible?

Everyone new to rowing will be considered “Novices” and will get to race other Novice teams from California, Arizona and Utah. Age category racing in Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 are also available.  

Our Head Coach has over 45 years of Junior Coaching experience and has won 5 National Titles, sent athletes to all the best Universities and the Olympics.

Lake Las Vegas is one of the best sites for rowing in the world. Major college teams fly here to practice and race throughout the year.

Getting Started

Fill out a Junior Interest Survey. Come to a practice. Each Monday we will invite new athletes to come and watch and possibly participate in a practice. Parents are invited to ride a Safety Launch and watch and talk to the coach about the team. Practices are held M/Tu/Th/Fr from 3:30-6pm with optional practices  Sat and Sun  7-9am. Novices are required to come at least three days a week but 5 days a week is recommended.

Lake Las Vegas Boathouse Directions: The LLVRC is located on the Dam at the north end of Lake Las Vegas Parkway. Go all the way to the end of LLV Parkway and then go to the right of the 3 warning barricades and drive over the curb. Follow the road onto the Dam. About 1/4 the way across, turn left in between the 2 Yellow/Green cones and park on the right side. Walk down into the yard to meet everyone. You can find the boathouse on Google maps

The Lake Las Vegas Rowing Club Coach Jim Andersen’s guidance and the Masters athletes preparing her for possibilities have everything to do with her success being invited to training in New Zealand and getting recruited by the University of Texas at Austin Division I Women’s Rowing Team. Rowing crew and sculling are her passions. Thank you for bringing out the best in her character, leadership, and skills.

Although our son has always been involved in athletics, it is difficult to say that he has truly been a part of a team. That changed when in August of 2017 he arrived at the LLVRC boathouse. It was immediately evident the atmosphere was one of encouragement, cooperation, and inclusion, primarily because crew is the ultimate team sport. Unlike other sports, there is no superstar who can save the day. All of the athletes in the boat have to work in unison for the team to be successful.

Joining the Lake Las Vegas Rowing Club crew has had an amazing impact on our son’s life. An incredible coach and knowledgeable, friendly assistant coaches help make the team an awesome experience. He has built friendships, become extremely strong – both mentally and physically, and is truly thankful to be learning this great sport! As parents we love that our son takes a daily technology break – he puts his cell phone away when he arrives at practice and doesn’t touch it for the hours that he is there – and he doesn’t even miss it!
